Comedy events will be coming to a venue in the west near you as a part of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

Supported by Maribyrnong council, coming up first is the festival’s ‘Neighbourhood Sessions’ set to land in Footscray on Friday, April 1.

Some of the biggest names in the comedy community will be performing at Footscray Community Arts including David Quirk, Floyd Alexander-Hunt, He Huang, Sami Shah, with Harley Breen as host.

The (Very) Big Laugh Out Westside is the next big event on the comedy calendar, and will see stand-up, physical and musical comedy performers take to the stage at Maddern Square Footscray.

The free show on April 2 is perfect for families with performances by Miss C – Balloonologist, Oliver Coleman, The Scientwits and many more.

Comedy Out West (COW) Open Mic Night on April 7 will see the audience take control, deciding who is awarded the best comedian in the west and gets to walk away with the sought after cow bell for 2022.

Finally, an event just for the kids, the Scientwits will host their own interactive comedy show ‘The Wrong Experiments’ from April 9-14.

Melbourne International Comedy Festival Associate Director Gideon James said the local events have something for everybody.

“Neighbourhood Sessions is an exciting opportunity for the festival to present tailored line-up shows in metro Melbourne.”

Festival Director Susan Provan AO said the amazing line-ups represent the very best the festival has to offer.

“Our mission is to bring comedy to fans right across Melbourne and the Neighbourhood Sessions are a great opportunity to connect with people who might not be able to get into the CBD. “
