Police are appealing for public information after an arsonist attacked a residential care home in West Footscray earlier this month.
Emergency services were called to the Geelong Road property, near the intersection with Robbs Road, shortly after 8.20pm on August 3 after the door was set alight.
A male worker and a passing female motorist both noticed the flames and called triple zero.
A number of residents managed to put out the fire with buckets of water.
Minor damage was sustained and no one was injured during the incident.
Police have released CCTV showing a person entering the property shortly before the fire starts, then running out and turning left to head west along Geelong Road.
A black cap was located at the scene and police are trying to establish if it has any connection to the fire.
Maribyrnong Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating the incident and urg anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or make a confidential report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
