The Community Bank Altona and Laverton branch teams are giving back to the communities of Hobsons Bay and Laverton after 22 years of serving the communities.
The branches will host a community fair on Saturday, October 15 from noon to 5pm at Logan Reserve in Altona.
Chairperson Henry Da Silva said the Laverton branch opened its doors on July 24 in 2000, with the Altona and Point Cook branches opening soon after.
“Twenty-two years ago, we were able to open our branch thanks to the commitment and drive from the Laverton community,” he said.
“At a time when others were closing down their banks in our local precincts, we decided we would open and work hard to grow and develop together with our community.
“It’s that commitment to the local area that has enabled us to be as successful as we are today.”
Mr Da Silva said the Altona, Laverton and Point Cook branches have distributed more than $5.5 million to the local community, with the branches also offering local people award-winning banking services, employment opportunities and a local investment option for shareholders.
“As our profitability grows, so too does our ability to provide an important source of sustainable revenue for communities to help fund projects and initiatives that strengthen our local area,” he said.
Through the Community Partnership Program, the branches have delivered a number of services, including the distribution of more than 100 defibrillators across the Hobsons Bay and Wyndham
communities as part of the Defib Your Club for Life program.
Other major projects included the Point Cook Transport Service, the Hobsons Bay and Wyndham L2P driving mentoring program, as well as the annual funding to the Laverton Youth Foundation in support of a Youth Facilitator.
Celebrations will kick off at Logan Reserve at the corner of Pier Street in Altona from noon on Saturday, October 15.
Festivities will include a Super-sized sausage sizzle, musical performances from The Voice Generations superstars Tim and Caitlin Rizzoli, face painting, petting zoos, vehicle displays and visits with local sports stars.
