Maribyrnong’s senior citizens have been celebrating the joys of ageing together this month, as part of the 2022 Seniors Festival.
Local events have included a bacon and egg sandwich day on Tuesday, October 4 at the Braybrook Maidstone Neighbourhood House, a sausage sizzle on Tuesday, October 11 at the Braybrook Maidstone Neighbourhood House and a lunch for older LGBTQIA+ residents on Wednesday, October 12.
Maribyrnong mayor Anthony Tran said the events allowed senior citizens to celebrate the work they do to support the area.
“It’s great to be able to come together as a community to celebrate our older residents,” he said.
“I welcome and encourage all of the older residents in our community to head down and attend one of the many local events near them throughout the month.”
Yarraville’s Sun Theatre is also hosting a free screening of ‘Mrs Harris Goes to Paris’ from 10am on Thursday, October 27.
Maribyrnong’s University of the Third Age [U3A] group is also hosting a free movie screening for Seniors Festival from 11am on Thursday, October 27 at the Maribyrnong Community Centre.
