Charges have been laid following home invasion in Altona North

Four men have been charged following an aggravated home invasion in Altona North on January 18.

Investigators have been told four men, armed with a firearm, broke into a property on Hatherley Grove just after 4am.

Once inside, the men allegedly made demands for cash before assaulting the sole occupant, a 30-year-old man, and stealing various items from the property.

The victim was able to escape into another residence and the men fled the scene in a previously stolen Volkswagen Amarok.

The stolen Volkswagen was recovered at a Docklands address on Wednesday, January 19.

Police executed three search warrants on January 20 in Docklands, Elsternwick and Wollert.

They seized a firearm, a quantity of methylamphetamine, a quantity of cash, an imitation firearm and other stolen property linked to separate burglaries.

Three men aged 21, 24 and 25 from Docklands were charged with aggravated home invasion, being a prohibited person possessing a firearm, theft of a motor vehicle, criminal damage and common law assault.

A 22-year-old Wollert man was also charged with the same offences, while another 24-year-old Docklands man was served with a Firearm Prohibition Order.

All four were remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates Court on January 21 while the investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
