The Altona City Rotary Club will be holding its 20th Annual Charity Golf Day, with charity Very Special Kids being the major beneficiary.
The Altona City Charity Golf day has so far donated $118,300 to the charity, which helps approximately 850 families across Victoria who have a child with a life-threatening condition.
Golf committee chairman Charlie Montebello said Very Special Kids has been the event’s major beneficiary for the past 11 years, after the Rotary Club did a tour of the charity’s main offices and hospice in Malvern, which he said ‘hit a soft spot’.
The charity day will be held at Kooringal Golf Club on February 25, with golfers of all abilities encouraged to attend.
“Last year we had 104 [players], which is 26 teams of four and we tee off just after 12pm,” Mr Montebello said
“Then after the game, [at] six o’clock we sit down and we put dinner on for the players and also…. [give] prizes to the winners. [We] have a few auctions and raffles, so we’re always looking for donations from local companies.”
