Hobsons Bay residents are invited to connect with other community members and enjoy a wide range of entertainment, food and activities as part of a R U OK? Day event.
The free morning tea will be held at the Laverton Community Hub on Thursday, September 8 from 10am until 11.30am.
Activities will include a drumming performance and class from Beat Factor Group, a sausage sizzle, spinal health checks, yoga, massage, Henna art, Crokinole board games, job help and support from youth counsellors.
Hobsons Bay councillor Matt Tyler said simply asking somebody if they are OK can start a conversation which could have a significant impact on their life.
“R U OK? Day is a great annual reminder to us all about having those conversations as soon as we notice someone might be struggling and could benefit from a check-in with a friend, colleague or loved one,” he said.
“But we shouldn’t just be having these conversations on R U OK? Day, we should be having them all year round.
“This morning tea will provide an opportunity to learn more about how to reduce stress – whether that’s through activities you can do yourself or working with a local service to give you the advice you need to improve your life.”
