Seddon local and retired special education teacher Ena Vasudevan is about to publish her first book.

“There’s a foxhole in my bed” is described as an inventive and entertaining ABC learning resource for children, and was spawned from Vasudevan’s desire to create something for her great-niece.

The book was inspired by a memory from the author’s own childhood in Denmark, where she believed a family of foxes lived under her bed.

The bed’s dismantling was the only way to calm the then-two-year-old.

Vasudevan said her fond memories of her father reading to her as a child, plus her mother publishing three books in her lifetime, are the reasons for her appreciation for storytelling.

“A house rich in books is a marvellous thing and should always be encouraged,” Vasudevan said.

The book includes some of the author’s own artwork, which her sister encouraged her to include.

Vasudevan was a special education teacher for more thanr 35 years.

She said her interest in learning extends through every part of her life, as she has learnt about different cultures through her travels.

“I have been lucky enough to travel to amazing places,” she said.

“Stay tuned for my next book – it will be all about travel.”

“There’s a foxhole in my bed” will be released through Aly’s Books, with a book launch on Saturday, June 19 set to mark the exciting next chapter of Ms Vasudevan’s life.
