Maribyrnong children are encouraged to unleash their creative side to go in the draw to meet Santa Claus himself.

As part of Maribyrnong council’s Christmas celebrations, parents are encouraged to download the council’s MARIality phone application and then collect a Santa and Sirens Colouring Competition colouring sheet from participating local traders, libraries, or community centres.

After participants colour in the picture of Santa Claus and a gingerbread man, they can scan the image using the app and watch the artwork come to life via the special augmented reality [AR] technology.

Participants can then save their artwork to go in the running to have Santa Claus visit their home on a vintage fire truck from the Fire Services Museum of Victoria ahead of Christmas Day.

One lucky child from each Maribyrnong suburb will be selected to receive a visit at home from Santa and his helpers.

Other AR experiences accessible via the app include the West Footscray AR Mural Trail, the Footscray AR Santa Sleigh at the Nicholson Street Mall, a Seddon AR Gingerbread Hunt and the Yarraville AR Animated Christmas Tree.

Entries for the Santa and Sirens Colouring Competition close on Wednesday, December 7.

Winners of the Santa and Sirens home visits will be notified by Monday, December 12.
