Aquatic Christmas fun

The Maribyrnong Aquatic Centre is hosting Christmas activities on Sunday, December 18 from noon to 4pm, including Christmas themed fitness classes, aquatic games for all ages and access to the brand-new inflatable and a special guest appearance from MACquaMan and his pal Santa Claus. All Christmas themed activities are free with a general entry pass.

Pieces at The Substation

Three unique voices within Melbourne’s dance scene will be bringing their newest creations to The Substation. Lucy Guerin Inc’s newest exhibition of its show Pieces will be hitting the stage in Newport from Wednesday, December 14 to Saturday, December 17. Pieces will be exhibited at The Substation from 7.30pm from Wednesday, December 14 to Saturday, December 17 with a 3pm matinee performance on Saturday, December 17. There will be also be an Auslan interpreted artist talk following the performance on Friday, December 16.

Cherry Lake Market

Altona Lions Club Cherry Lake Market is holding a special Christmas market on Sunday, December 18. Set between Millers Road and the stunning Cherry Lake in Altona, this market has something for everyone. The market hosts more than 60 stalls selling plants, bric-a-brac, handcrafts, hot jam donuts, tools, clothing and much more. Play along sessions

The Newport Folk and Fiddle Group Beginner Play Along group offers a great way for you and your family to connect to music. If you are an absolute beginner or have decided to pick up that dusty or unused instrument or have some experience and want to try a new instrument in a safe, casual and welcoming environment, why not come down and have some fun, share a cuppa, bring the kids and maybe even learn something new? All instruments and levels of expertise are welcomed where the main aim is to enjoy music and have fun. The group is led by Danny. who creates a welcoming and casual environment. These sessions are a great way to musically express yourself and connect with others with a similar interest in a safe and friendly environment. The group will meet Saturday, December 17, from 6.30pm to 8.30pm, at 2nd Newport Scouts, 6 Market Street, Newport.

International Cadet Class 2022 World Championship

The Royal Yacht Club of Victoria is hosting the International Cadet Class 2022 World Championship incorporating the International Cadet Class 2022 Australian Championship and International Cadet Class World Championship. The International Cadet Class is the only World Sailing doublehanded junior class boat catering for the ages of 7-17. It is currently sailed in 19 countries across four continents. As well as an action-packed sailing schedule, there will be a strong social program including activities, food and drinks and live music. The event runs between December 19 and January 2, between 10am and 5pm.

Introduction to computer classes

Walking group

The Altona Meadows & Newport Heart Foundation Walking Group is a local community of men and women committed to walking and socialising together for about 60 minutes. It meets Wednesdays at 10am at the Jolly Miller Cafe in Altona Meadows or Fridays at 10am at the Newport Lakes Reserve. Members are required to register with the Heart Foundation in order to join.

Cobber Club

Cobber Club provides exercises suitable for seniors, including chair exercises. Friends of Williamstown Library holds a book sale every second Saturday of each month, 10am-12.30 pm. The book sale is held at Williamstown library in the Friends room, which can be accessed through the front desk. The event is cash only.
