Community grants open

Applications for Maribyrnong council’s Community Grants program for 2022 are now open.

Not-for-profit community groups, agencies and certified social enterprises are encouraged to apply for grants of up to $25,000 for projects and initiatives, which encourage and remove barriers to participation in community and civic life, support and enable community connectedness and wellbeing and increase intergenerational and intercultural participation, understanding and opportunities.

Council is encouraging First Nations led projects and projects from or developed in partnership with culturally and linguistically diverse [CALD] communities, LGBTIQA+ people, young people, older people or people living with disability to apply.

Maribyrnong mayor Anthony Tran said the grants helped the council encourage a greater sense of connection and inclusiveness.

“These grants help community groups and not-for-profit organisations at a more grass-roots level to bring their dream projects to life,” he said.

Local practical and engaging trainer and advisor Patrick Moriarty will host a workshop on how to plan for projects on Wednesday, July 20 from 10.30am until 12.30pm at West Footscray library.

Other workshops will be held on Wednesday, July 27 from 10.30am until 12.30pm, Thursday, August 4 from 11am until 12 noon and Wednesday, August 10 from 10am until 12.30pm at West Footscray library.

Applications close at 4pm on Thursday, August 25.
