Community leaders encourage Maribyrnong residents to get their third jab

Maribyrnong Mayor Anthony Tran has encouraged residents to get their third jab after he received his booster at one of the municipalities many walk-in vaccination clinics.

Cr Tran was joined by Kashif Bouns, general manager of community and government relations at the Western Bulldogs Community Foundation, at the Quang Minh Temple on February 17 where they both received their third doses.

Cr Tran said getting his COVID-19 booster was the next important step to support his community and keep those around him safe.

“If you are due for your booster, please ‘get the jab done’ and keep our community protected. Alternatively, you can attend one of the walk-in vaccination clinics to get your vaccination or booster, no appointment needed,” he said.

Mr Bouns said the Western Bulldogs take their responsibility to the community very seriously, and have taken continued action throughout the pandemic such as transforming Victoria University Whitten Oval into a vaccination hub.

“We recognise the importance of having vaccination clinics at locations where members of the community feel comfortable and safe, like the Quang Minh Buddhist Temple, the Doggies and other local temples, mosques and community hubs,” he said.

“It’s important that we as a community keep our vaccinations up as advised by the government so we can keep enjoying the things we love like going to the footy and community programs.”

There are a variety of local walk-in vaccination clinics across Maribyrnong over the coming weeks, including at Highpoint Shopping Centre and Footscray Library Carpark.
