A local resident is concerned about the upkeep of the grass and plants at Dennis Reserve in Williamstown, considering the amount of money spent upgrading the park.
Russell Cocks said while Hobsons Bay Council should be congratulated on the improvements made to the reserve over the past few years, they should not let all the good work die.
“As a daily user of the reserve I can find no evidence of any sort of watering program and as a consequence the grass and plants are suffering,” he said.
“It is a false economy to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on capital works and then destroy the good work by lack of water, particularly in a summer when all the reservoirs are full to the brim.”
“I just think that they’re failing to water the grass in particular in the reserve and it is dying.”
“I walk around Williamstown every day and I think that there’s a general lack of water being used.”
Hobsons Bay council was contacted for comment regarding Mr. Cocks concerns.
