Maribyrnong Council is calling for nominations for a new business support initiative.

The voucher-driven Business Elevate Program aims to create a cycle of investment between local businesses.

The first stage of the program is aimed at creating a Preferred Business Supplier list.

Stage two matching the Preferred Business Suppliers with small businesses in the community, who can benefit from the skills and services of the preferred suppliers, helping to encourage collaborative relationships.

The council will facilitate the process, with selected Preferred Business Suppliers asked to put forward a service offer valued at $2000.

The council will then provide a $2000 voucher to a small business participating in the program to invest in the selected preferred suppliers.

Mayor Michael Clarke said about 35 small businesses are expected to take part in the initiative, with up to five vouchers able to be redeemed at each preferred supplier.

“This project is about sharing the love – not only will our preferred suppliers benefit but 35 other business will also benefit from the skills and knowledge of the preferred suppliers,” he said.

Expected benefits include driving business to the preferred suppliers, assisting small businesses to further grow to the next level, and creating an investment cycle in the business sector.

The preferred supplier list will be across 12 categories:

1. Accounting/Bookkeeping

2. Business Coaching/Business Consulting

3. Copywriting/Public Relations

4. Digital Marketing/SEO

5. Graphic Design/Visual Merchandising

6. Human Resources/Recruitment
