Cruickshank Park to host strings in spring this weekend

With the cost for a family to attend a classical music experience being well into the hundreds, sadly many children will never get the chance to see or hear the magic of a violin or a cello.

But the Inner West Symphony Orchestra (IWSO), together with Community Bank Seddon and the Friends of Cruickshank Park, are aiming to change that by offering a free classical music experience this weekend.

As part of its ‘Strings in Spring’ initiative, the IWSO will be playing a free afternoon of live classical music, featuring both strings and saxophones, at the rotunda in Cruickshank Park from 2-3pm on Sunday, 9 November.

Parents can come and relax creekside, under the trees, while their kids discover their first live classical music performance up close.

The show will then be followed by a hands-on session where the musicians will give children an up close look at their instruments and even a chance to handle them too.

There’s no tickets and no barriers, just live classical music under the springtime sun.

The Cruickshank Park rotunda is located near the Tuppen Street entrance.
