Williamstown police put out a wanted call for Tour de France champion Cadel Evans after his wallet was handed in to the station.
Victoria Police reached out to Evans via Twitter.
“@CadelOfficial Hi Cadel Williamstown police have your wallet that you dropped,” police tweeted on Thursday.
Evans replied “@VictoriaPolice Wow, you guys are great. I’ve only met friendly helpful nurses and police since I’ve been back,” followed by a thumbs-up emoji and #home #Australia.
Police were reportedly in a hurry to catch the cycling champion before he departed Australia.
Evans replied to Victoria Police on twitter: “Got it! Now I just need some pockets with a zip. Thanks guy (and girls). #goodpeople
