Detectives investigate Williamstown stabbing

Detectives are appealing to the public to assist with their investigation into a stabbing in Williamstown earlier this year.

Police have been told a man was walking along Aitken Street when he was approached by an unknown male on a bicycle just after 7pm on June 18.

The offender struck the victim to the back of the head before producing a knife and stabbing him twice.

The victim, a 23-year-old Williamstown man, was transported to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries which later required surgery.

The offender fled east through a residential car park on a light-coloured bicycle.

He was last seen wearing a black hooded jumper, black pants and runners.

Investigators released images and CCTV on September 30 of a man they believe can assist with their inquiries.
