Dishing up neighbourly spirit at Harmony Feast

The west’s vibrant multicultural community will be dishing up good times and neighbourly spirit when the annual Harmony Feast is held in Maidstone this month.

A mouthwatering array of traditional food from around the globe will be shared as community members draw on their roots to whip up a feast reflecting the area’s rich cultural melting pot.

The Harmony Feast will also offer an array of colourful multicultural entertainment and activities.

Maribyrnong mayor Cuc Lam will be joining other locals in telling their stories as part of a Human Library, in which people share one-on-one conversations about living their lives in Australia as migrants or refugees.

Cr Lam arrived in Australia in 1978 as a refugee from Vietnam, fleeing by boat.

This experience has served as her inspiration in supporting people who are in need.

Harmony Feast will held be from noon to 3pm Sunday, March 18 at Maidstone Community Centre, 21 Yardley Street, Maidstone.
