A 43-year-old man was caught drink driving a vessel after crashing his boat in Newport on Saturday night.
It is believed a six metre fishing boat was travelling along Warmies boat channel, heading towards the boat ramp when the boat struck a rock wall about 9.15pm.
The boat capsized and two men who were trapped under the vessel, managed to climb onto the rock wall and walk back to the boat ramp car park.
The pair then returned to their car and drove home.
Water police officers were called to the incident and caught up with the driver who returned a positive preliminary breath test.
The Newport man was taken to a nearby police station where returned a blood alcohol concentration of .085 per cent.
He is expected to be charged on summons with drink driving a vessel and other marine related offences.
