Maribyrnong community members with experience or interest in the needs of people 60 years and older are encouraged to join a reactivated group to develop positive ageing activities in the area.

Applications are now open for up to 10 community members to join the Active and Healthy Ageing Community Advisory Committee, as well as up to three representatives from community-controlled service providers or organisations who have a strategic link with senior communities in Maribyrnong.

The group is a reactivation and reframing of Maribyrnong council’s Older Persons Reference Group, which was launched in 2011.

The group’s objectives include raising awareness of ageing, promoting a culture of responding to the needs and aspirations of senior members of the community and providing advice to the council on key initiatives and programs.

Representatives must be able to demonstrate a connection with Maribyrnong and bring the necessary qualifications, skills and attributes to support the group’s overarching objectives.

Membership will be for a period of two years with meetings held up to six times a year.

Expressions of interest in joining the committee are closing at 5pm on Friday, February 10.
