An 82-year-old woman has been shoved to the ground causing her to hit her head during a violent jewellery store robbery at Highpoint shopping centre.

Police are investigating the robbery of more than $100,000 worth of goods at the upmarket jewellery shop on Rosamond Road in Maribyrnong about 2.30pm last Wednesday.

CCTV footage from within Salera’s Jewellmasters shows the man – dressed in a white jumpsuit and orange high-vis vest – jump over the counter, smash a display cabinet and scoop jewellery into a bag.

The female staff member then approaches the man as he is carrying out the theft but she is pushed violently and falls to the ground.

Other staff members and customers can be seen chasing the offender as he flees, however he managed to get away in a white 1997 Honda Accord. The car has since been found by police.

He stole more than $100,000 worth of items.

Paramedics were called to the scene after the woman fell and hit her head. She was taken to the Epworth Hospital in Richmond for observation.

Maribyrnong Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating and have released CCTV of a man who may be able to assist police with their inquiries.
