The Environment Protection Authority Victoria (EPA) has charged a company and two individuals following an investigation into the management of scrap metal stockpiles in Tottenham.
The EPA laid 12 charges against Manhari International Pty Ltd of 414 Somerville Road, Tottenham under the Environment Protection Act of 1970.
The charges allege that the company and the two individuals: failed to install controls required to prevent liquid waste from leaving the property, failed to keep stockpiles of scrap metal containing combustible recyclable and waste materials within the required size limits, failed to ensure the stockpiles were a sufficient distance from buildings, failed to report compliance actions to EPA Victoria, and failed to comply with requirements of a regulatory notice to assess for contaminated land.
The EPA will be making no further comment on the charges as the matter is now before the courts.
