A Laverton North company that failed to contain wastewaters from its concrete batching business has been fined almost $10,000 by Environment Protection Authority (EPA) Victoria.

EPA officers attended Aerolink Property Corporations’ business, which trades as Midway Concreting, on Holcourt Road in Laverton North on July 9.

The officers estimated that over 1,000 litres of wastewater had escaped the facility as the result of onsite management.

EPA west metropolitan regional manager Steve Lansdell discussed the incident.

“We only want to see rainwater going down our stormwater drains, but video evidence clearly shows a large volume of wastewater washing out of the driveway and down the road to drain inlets.”

“That water will drain into our creeks and waterways causing a pollution risk. It’s everyone’s business to act to prevent pollution but this was not happening at Holcourt Rd, so a fine of $9,880 is appropriate.”
