Expo helping Maribyrnong residents get active

Expose yourself to a healthy new activity when the Get Active! Expo returns to Maribyrnong next month.

The popular come-and-try series offers a chance to get back to a beloved pursuit or try out something new such as archery, street orienteering or barefoot bowls.

Younger participants can hop aboard via a program offering hip hop, netball, hockey and table tennis, to name just a few of the 36 activities on offer.

This year’s program will run in partnership with sporting organisations including Melbourne Renegades, Cricket Victoria and Melbourne City Football Club, along with Tennis Victoria, Melbourne United Basketball Club and a number of local sporting clubs.

Maribyrnong resident Olympia said her family has used past expos as a springboard to healthier living.

“Since being involved in the expo, where we tried out barefoot bowls, badminton and gym sessions, we have made an effort to walk regularly, and my husband has joined the gym with his son,” she said.

Each participant can also access a free 10 visit pass to Maribyrnong Aquatic Centre or RecWest Footscray.

The free series runs from March 17 to April 18. For more information or to register visit www.activemaribyrnong.com.au
