The City West Falcons and Collingwood Super Netball team headed to Shepparton on Sunday to help some of the next generation of netballers.

The two clubs joined forces to head to Rumbalara Netball Club to run a fun day of clinics and netball skills. Rumbalara is a strong Aboriginal-led club. Shepparton and Nathalia netball clubs also attended the day.

Falcons coach Marg Lind the day had been a successful one and plenty of fun for everyone involved.

She said they wanted to create some excitement around the sport and keep children involved or get them started in the first place.

“We’re working in partnership with Collingwood to help provide some experiences to those in Rumbalara,” she said.

“We spoke with the parents, the coaches and the players. We took some of our rep kids from Altona with us too.

“We’re a multicultural club and it’s part of our identity. We want to show the rural kids the opportunities you can have in Melbourne.”

Magpies coach Nicole Richardson, players Maggie Lind and Shimona Nelson, and Falcons player and Collingwood training partner Zoe Davies all attended the day.
