Bruce Comben Reserve will host a day packed with family-friendly entertainment as the Out & About Festival hits Seabrook and Altona Meadows.

Hobsons Bay council is hosting the festival on Saturday, September 17 from 2pm to 7pm, with live music and kids entertainment from The Mik Maks and other activities and giveaways on offer.

The community will also be able to provide feedback on the draft vision and principles for the Better Places Seabrook and Altona Meadows program during the festival.

The draft vision and principles of the program is based on community feedback from the first stage of consultation, during which 3610 pieces of feedback were received on what the community loves, might want changed and any other ideas for Seabrook and Altona Meadows.

Festival attendees will also have the opportunity to view the preliminary concept plan for the Western Aquatic and Early Years Centre proposed for Bruce Comben Reserve, ask questions and have their say on the project.

Hobsons Bay deputy mayor Diana Grim said the festival is the next step in connecting with the Seabrook and Altona Meadows communities about what they want for the area.

“To receive more than 3600 pieces of feedback is incredible and it’s easily the biggest response we’ve had across all the Better Places programs completed so far,” she said.

“It just shows how connected this community is to their neighbourhood and how passionate they are about making it a better place to live, work, study and play.”

Hobsons Bay councillor Matt Tyler said the day will also be a chance for people of all ages to have fun while making a difference to the community.

“It’s time to take the next step and receive project ideas that will help turn what we’ve heard so far into reality,” he said.

“The Out & About Festival will be a great day, kids love The Mik Maks, so they’re sure to be a highlight.”
