Shrewd shoppers are expected to swarm across the inner-west this Saturday in search of the perfect bargain as part of the 2015 Garage Sale Trail.
The national event, which is in its fifth year, is aimed at reducing waste and promoting recycling and it invites bargain-hunters to discover treasures from among more than three million items for sale.
West Footscray Neighbourhood House will be an essential stop on the trail, celebrating its 25th anniversary with a garage sale and spring sustainability market from 10am-3pm.
The event will feature handmade wares, pre-loved toys, spring seedlings, live music and activities for children as well as a sausage sizzle.
Maribyrnong deputy mayor Cameron McDonald said holding a garage sale on Saturday was a great way to give new life to your unwanted items while reducing landfill waste.
“You may even make some money and some new friends at the same time,” he said.
Woods Street Arts Space in Laverton will hold a pop-up garage sale from 10am-2pm, offering items including adult and children’s clothing, artisan and upcycled products, vintage homewares and toys.
Entertainment will be provided by Hawaiian 60s-film-soundtrack-style musos The Kahuna Daddies, as well as soul and folk songwriter Mon Shelford.
