Laverton firefighter Dean Smart kept his cool to take home $10,000 during his Millionnaire Hot Seat episode.

Mr Smart said he had been watching the show with his wife and daughters for a number of years and just thought he should try it out.

“I just thought I had a headful of trivia,” he said.

In the episode aired on Thursday, July 21, he won the Fastest Finger First round answering 11 out of 15 questions correctly, already putting $1000 in his pocket.

“That was pretty fast and furious,” he said.

The last player to sit on the ‘hot seat’, Mr Smart passed on the $4000 question and then faced the $10,000 question which was about which country the Fair Isle knitting technique is named after.

“I thought that sounded Scottish,” he said.

Mr Smart said it was “exciting” to take part in the show and share his win with his wife and his best friend.

He said he had already used a bit of the money.

“My daughters needed two new bikes and I needed a new surfboard,” Mr Smart said.

“There’s also some home improvements we will do.”
