Altona Meadows resident Olivia Marchioni is realising her dream of writing and releasing a book.

Telling the story of a fussy child who refuses to eat any of his mum’s food, her first book ‘No Way Bay’ is now available for pre-order.

As an early childhood educator and parent, Ms Marchioni said she appreciates the value of reading for young children.

“I’ve always loved reading, there’s something magical about curling up with a good book and being transported into another world, painted by the authors words,” she said.

“Publishing a book of my own has been something I’ve wanted to do for a really long time.

“I find reading to young children such a great way to support attachments and spark conversations that otherwise might not take place.”

Ms Marchioni said the book features illustrations from her friend Elyse Kalade.

“Working together on this project has been such an amazing experience,” she said.

“We have been through so much together throughout the years and I’m so thankful to be able to share this achievement with Elyse.”

Ms Marchioni said her experience raising her eldest child Sawyer is the inspiration for the book

“Sawyer is the inspiration behind No Way Bay as I used my personal struggles to create a family friendly book that encourages out of the box thinking to meet the individual needs of each child,” she said.

“Becoming a parent, no one really prepares you for how much of yourself is put on hold, or at least I wasn’t prepared for it.

“Becoming a mum is my greatest achievement by far and so rewarding, however, there have definitely been times over the years I’ve felt a loss of identity.”

Ms Marchioni said the writing and publishing process is “exhilirating”.

“I couldn’t be prouder,” she said.

Kingsville-based publisher Aly Walsh is publishing the book.
