Foodbank puts the chill on hunger

A Yarraville charity has taken the next step towards putting the freeze on hunger.

Foodbank Victoria has installed a new $200,000 coolroom that will be a conduit for more than 2.7 million meals for people in need across the state every year.

The new refrigerator and freezer have the capacity to store up to 250 pallets of fresh produce.

The coolroom was funded by philanthropic corporate donors, who recently joined Foodbank Victoria chief executive Dave McNamara on an inspection tour of the new refrigerated addition to a Yarraville warehouse.

Foodbank Victoria is a not-for-profit organisation assisting 500 charities in providing emergency food relief in the community.
