Casual snappers and professional photographers alike can share prizes valued at $2000 as part of a contest celebrating the centenary of Victoria University.

Picturing BluScray entrants are being invited to explore a ‘colour blue’ theme while capturing the character and personality of Footscray.

The competition is part of a broader BluScray series of events that will add to the street life of Footscray while highlighting the longstanding link between VU and the colour blue, which features on its logo.

Other projects taking place in central Footscray from July to December include a public art trail along Nicholson Street, a blue lantern parade, shop window competition, and a projection and lighting installation.

Images entered in the Picturing BluScray contest will be exhibited at VU’s MetroWest site on Nicholson Street, Footscray.

Entries close June 14.

Veteran photographer of The Age Simon O’Dwyer will judge winners and award prizes at the exhibition launch on June 30.
