A man will appear in the Melbourne Magistrates Court today charged with the murder of a woman in Footscray last week.
Homicide squad detectives arrested the 35-year-old man at his Footscray home yesterday afternoon.
After being interviewed by police he was charged with the murder of a 62-year-old woman whose body was found at a Footscray property last Friday night.
Police were called to do a welfare check at the Cowper Street address, believed to be a brothel, just after 8pm on November 29.
The body of the deceased woman was found inside the property and police will allege she was killed in the early hours of the morning of Wednesday, November 27.
