Police are investigating if a fire at a Footscray tobacco shop early this morning is linked to previous fires at the site.
Officers patrolling the Footscray CBD came across the fire at the Paisley Street shop at about 12.45am on Monday, July 14.
Investigators believe that a silver Holden Astra was deliberately backed into the front of the shop, before offenders set the car and building alight.
The offenders had already fled the scene by the time police arrived.
A crime scene has been established and the investigation remains ongoing.
It’s believed to be the second such fire at the same shop in just over 12 months.
Anyone with information that could assist police is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
