Free day of fun

Locals will be treated to a free family day out in St Albans this month.

Hosted by St Albans Sports Club with support from Brimbank council, the event aims to help relieve financial pressure on local families looking for school holiday entertainment.

Club marketing assistant Sheree Cantelmi said last year’s event was a huge success.

“We drew in a crowd, I believe, to be close to 2000 people. It was quite successful,” she said.

“Now we have it on the oval so we’re able to get more entertainment for the kids. We’ve got more rides too.”

There will be a range of free activities and attractions on the day, from face painting, rides, and food trucks to a giant four-lane slide and a special guest appearance from Bluey and her younger sister, Bingo.

Ms Cantelmi said while activities mostly cater towards younger kids there are also attractions for older children too.

“We also have market stalls now because we’re wanting to promote local businesses and help them out,” Ms Cantelmi said.

Residents will be able to engage with and sign up to local sports clubs and dance groups at stalls too.

“We’ve also got a Western Bulldogs mascot coming out on the day to help promote football,” Ms Cantelmi said.

The ‘St Albans family fun day’ will run from 3-8pm on Saturday 17 January at Kings Park Reserve, Gillespie Road, Kings Park.

“Come along and have a fun, free day out!” Ms Cantelmi said.
