Footscray is the scene of a controversial new film by director and writer Geoffrey Wright, formerly of Laverton, about a violent, neo-Nazi skinhead gang and its eventual destruction. The $1.5 million film, Romper Stomper, centres on a skinhead gang that lives in an old warehouse near Moreland Street, Footscray.

This is how a Maidstone pensioner has been forced to live for the past three months. A giant sign nailed to the front door of his home wards off unwanted guests. A meat cleaver hanging on the inside of his door is meant to be another deterrent.

Innova Soil Technology is appealing against Hobsons Bay council’s refusal to grant a planning permit for a plant to treat Victoria’s contaminated soil.
