A West Footscray grandmother who has worked tirelessly to support and champion ‘the underdog’ is Maribyrnong’s citizen of the year. Judith Cassar, 62 – a self-confessed previous ‘mouse’ – was awarded the city’s highest civic honour during Australia Day celebrations at the Footscray Community Arts Centre last Sunday.
