Hobsons Bay traders are decorating their shopfronts for Christmas and members of the community are able to vote for their favourite window.

It’s part of a council initiative called Shops on Show.

Mayor Jonathon Marsden said the move aimed to encourage people to discover Hobsons Bay’s outlets and go Christmas shopping locally.

“Why should people have to go see the Myer windows in the city when our innovative traders can put on their own festive and inventive displays,” he said.

“Local retailers can dress up their front windows, photograph it and send it to us to post on council’s Facebook and Instagram for the public to vote.”

Shops have until this Friday (November 23) to register by emailing business@hobsonsbay.vic.gov.au with their business name, address and contact details.

Photos will be uploaded to the council’s Facebook and Instagram pages by Wednesday November 28 for the community to vote on.

Prizes up to $3000 are up for grabs.
