Got an idea to attract people to the City of Maribyrnong? The council wants to hear it.

Maribyrnong council are asking locals for their ideas on how to attract new visitors to the City as a part of their new Love Your Local Activation Grant Program.

As part of the program, Maribyrnong council will fund projects that will boost activity in public spaces and attract new visitors to experience the City with up to $10,000, such as pop-up performances, busking, murals or community health and wellbeing activities.

Ideas need to align with one of the five strategic objectives of the Council Plan 2021-2025: a safe climate and healthy environment, future focussed and liveable neighbourhoods, ethical leadership and a place for all.

Maribyrnong council will also further support successful applicants to waive permit fees where applicable and provide marketing support with things like advertising on social media platforms and websites.

Mayor, Cr Anthony Tran says the council is looking for an idea that will fill the City’s streets with love, laughter and fun.

“Let’s add a little sparkle as we reunite with our favourite places this summer. We’re a creative and active community and I look forward to seeing the ideas roll in as part of this funding program – let’s enjoy our City this summer,” he said.
