The holidays are such a fun time, I love being able to spend it with my family and friends.

I think it’s also really important for us all that we take a bit of time over the summer to relax and unwind.

It’s good for our physical and mental wellbeing and it gives us a chance to reflect on everything we’ve done over the past year, and what’s to come in the year ahead.

It’s so easy to get caught up in how busy this time of year is, that we might not make the time we need to make sure we’re looking after ourselves.

I’m looking forward to attending some events over the summer period to do just that – relax and enjoy the company of the people who mean so much to me.

The first of those is Carols by Candlelight in Altona Meadows this Saturday, December 16. They’re on at Trafalgar Avenue Park starting at 7pm.

There’s also a carols on in Williamstown the following night at Commonwealth Reserve, starting at 7pm.

There is also a lot on over summer for families and people of all ages.

I’m really pleased to see the Summer in the Bay 2024 program running through January and February.

Finding new and different things for young people to do on the school holidays can be a challenge, so out council youth services team have put together a fantastic program of activities, from arts and crafts to sports and op shopping.

Please check out the council website because you do need to book for these activities, but they are all free.

The first of three Movies by the Bay sessions is on at Homestead Run Reserve in Seabrook on Friday, January 12, from 6pm.

I’m also really looking forward to Summer Sounds returning. This is a really fun and relaxed way tospend an afternoon listening to some great music.

For the first time, Curlew Park in Laverton will be hosting one of these events, and I can’t wait to see the local community come together for this.

That Summer Sounds event is on January 20, from 2pm to 5pm, and there are others in Altona and Williamstown throughout the summer.

I encourage you all to check our council website for all the great events on over summer.

Please stay safe these holidays, particularly on the roads, and remember to keep an eye on our neighbours.

From me and my family, I hope you have a wonderful holidays.
