Maribyrnong residents of all ages are being advised to learn about the warning signs of a heart attack, with education sessions now available in Maribyrnong.
A joint project with The Heart Foundation, Ambulance Victoria, Monash University and the State Government, the Heart Matters project is running in the Maribyrnong region until Friday, March 31.
The free sessions are available for local groups and businesses in regions of Victoria with a high risk of heart attack and with low heart health knowledge to teach them about common symptoms such as pain in the chest, arm, shoulder back or jaw and sweatiness or shortness of breath.
Heart Foundation Maribyrnong project co-ordinator Edweena Sooriah said she is excited to deliver the program to as many people as possible.
“Through the Heart Matters project, I have been able to engage with people from diverse backgrounds and educate them about their heart health,” she said.
“I am thrilled to be part of sharing this life-saving information in the Maribyrnong community.”
With someone having a heart attack in Australia every nine minutes, the session will cover the warning signs of a heart attack, what to do if you or someone you know has those warning signs and how to reduce your risk of having a heart attack.
