The Department of Health has recorded more COVID-related deaths in Hobsons Bay in the first four months of 2022 than it recorded during all of last year.
Statistics showed there was 28 COVID-related deaths recorded from January 1 to May 31 this year, while Hobsons Bay recorded 16 COVID-related deaths during all of 2021.
The statistics also showed that 26 Maribyrnong residents passed away due to COVID-related complications during the first four months of 2022, while Maribyrnong recorded 27 COVID-related deaths during 2021 and 30 COVID-related deaths during 2020.
A Department of Health spokesperson said everyone should get their third or fourth doses of a COVID-19 vaccination as soon as they are eligible.
“Our heartfelt sympathies go out to all the families and friends who have lost loved ones to COVID-19 over the course of the pandemic,” the spokesperson said.
“Victoria has introduced a vast range of measures – such as targeted pop-up vaccination sites, local public health units and the Covid Positive Pathways program – to help people stay safe from COVID-19 and support their recovery if infected.
“If you are due for your next COVID-19 vaccine dose or are eligible for a fourth ‘winter’ dose, you should get it as soon as possible.”
On Sunday, June 5, Hobsons Bay recorded 129 new cases with a total of 840 active cases at the time of publication, while Maribyrnong reported 102 new cases with a total of 759 active cases at the time of publication.
Hobsons Bay has a 73.7 per cent third dose vaccination rate, while 74.5 per cent of Maribyrnong residents have received their third vaccination.
In terms of first and second doses, 84.6 per cent of Maribyrnong residents have received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, while 83.2 per cent have received a second dose.
In Hobsons Bay, 91.6 per cent of residents have received a first dose and 90.4 per cent have got their second jab.
