Footscray’s Hotel Westwood was well and truly jumpin’ and jivin’ during its launch of its new Club Salsa experience on Thursday, June 2.
Panamanian DJ Mario Gordon is kicking off the Club Salsa nights every Thursday during June, with the 10-piece Latin band Del Barrio taking on the stage to get people up and dancing.
Owner and promoter James Young said more than 100 people attended the residency’s launch.
“It was hot, hot, hot,“ he said.
“I think people really responded well.
“My first impression was it was great to see the Latino people come out.“
Mr Young said Hotel Westwood will also be hosting free Latin dance lessons for people wanting to brush up on their skills.
“You can’t stand still at Club Salsa,“ he said.
With band members hailing from across the globe, Mr Young said the band had a distinct 1970s New York feel.
Doors open at 7pm, with two live sets starting from 8.30pm.
