Emergency services were called to Cole Street in Laverton regarding a residential fire on Thursday, June 1.
Multiple calls received at 9.53am for a garage fire that was fully engulfed in flames and threatening the adjoining house.
First crews were on the scene within seven minutes.
Fire fighters in breathing apparatus began to tackle the blaze which had extended into the house.
A second alarm response was called by the responders on the scene which escalated the event to 10 FRV Vehicles.
A community alert was issued by Vic Emergency to alert locals in the areas Altona, Laverton and Laverton North , given the amount of smoke and activity in the area.
There is no confirmation of the cause of the fire, but early indicators point to a heating unit of some description being a possible cause.
All occupants have been evacuated safely.
Crews remained on the scene until the fire was brought under control.
