Wyndham Crime Investigation Unit detectives are on the hunt for two men following a suspicious car fire in Laverton North last month.

Emergency services were called to a car fire at Leakes Road in Laverton North about 2.45am on Sunday, May 3, to find the Holden Rodeo parked in a rear car park of a business.

Police are treating the fire as suspicious.

Detectives believe the men may also be responsible for an alleged assault in Werribee in December last year.

Police have been told a man was approached by two men on a Werribee train station platform and hit to the head a number of times just before 2am on December 9.

The victim received cuts and bruises to the back of his head and had his wallet and mobile phone stolen.
