Impact of Derrimut fire being monitored

Hobsons Bay council is working closely with Environment Protection Authority (EPA) Victoria and Brimbank council to manage the impact of Wednesday’s Derrimut industrial fire on residents.

Emergency Management Victoria advises that the fire is contained.

Hobsons Bay residents and their pets should avoid contact with water at Cherry Creek and Kayes Drain.

Residents might notice odours in these areas, and should avoid these areas.

Council is monitoring the situation and how waterways might be affected, and will continue to communicate advice coming from the lead authorities with residents.

Updates are being released on the Emergency Management Victoria app and on emergency.vic.gov.au.

For more information, residents are advised to contact the EPA on 1300 372 842.
