Fuel supplier Mobil is starting refurbishment works of tanks associated with the former Altona refinery, as well as works in constructing a new truck loading bay at its Yarraville terminal.

The tank refurbishment works will provide more than 1000 million litres of additional petrol and diesel storage by July of this year.

Mobil South Pacific executive director Bruce Sutherland said increasing the petrol and diesel storage at its Melbourne terminal will boost the supply of fuel.

“Mobil is committed to maintaining the dependable supply of quality fuels our customers rely on,” he said.

“With the extension of our supply agreement with 7-Eleven, which will see Mobil quality fuel available from 7-Eleven fuel stores through to at least 2033, we continue to invest in strengthening our Australian fuel supply chain and maintaining the safe and reliable delivery of fuel where and when our customers need it.

“We are also constructing a new truck loading bay at our Yarraville terminal in Melbourne, which will mean our customers can fill up their fuel tankers and get back on the road delivering fuel to service stations as quickly as possible.

The tank refurbishment currently underway is the first of two phases of work, with the second phase including more tanks refurbished, adding up to an extra 150 million litres of petrol and diesel storage.
