A vibrant artwork depicting an Indian peacock in full plumage has added a welcome splash of colour to West Footscray.
The artwork, by Júlia Both, can be found on the wall running alongside Bharat Traders Indian Supermarket on Barkly Street.
It is the first of three new street art works planned as part of Maribyrnong council’s StreetWORKS program.
Acclaimed street artist Mike Maka will complete the second work, on the wall of nearby Buzz Barbers, while Bailer has been commissioned to create the third in a location soon to be revealed.
The StreetWORKS program, started in 2014, uses street art to brighten up public spaces and discourage graffiti and tagging.
