Altona Meadows road users are encouraged to have their say on proposed upgrades to the Point Cook Road and Central Avenue intersection.
Major Road Projects Victoria (MRPV) are currently undertaking planning and development work to inform the potential future upgrade, with work including traffic modelling, environmental and site investigations and planning and social studies.
Planning is seeking potential solutions to cater for population growth and increased vehicle movements, reduce travel times, improve travel time reliability and improve safety.
MRPV is hosting community ‘pop-up’ sessions on Saturday, March 18 from 10am to noon at Central Square Shopping Centre in Altona Meadows and on Tuesday, March 21 from 7am to 9am at the Aircraft train station in Laverton.
The Department of Transport and Planning will also be undertaking roadside technical investigations from this month and may need to implement traffic control measures, including temporary lane closures, stopping and slowing traffic and reducing speeds.
MRPV is also investigating a potential future upgrade to Central Avenue, between Point Cook Road and Skehan Boulevard.
MRPV is developing a business case, with work expected to be completed in late 2023.
Public feedback on the plans close on Sunday, April 2.
The works come after the Labor Government committed $79 million towards upgrades to the Point Cook Road and Central Avenue intersection and widening of Central Avenue ahead of last year’s state election.
