Kingsville Primary School was a hub of physical activity earlier this month as part of their ‘jump off day’ to mark the end of the Jump Rope for Heart challenge.

A total of 97 pupils took turns skipping to contribute to the school’s overall 194 hours of skipping.

Kingsville Primary School physical education and sport co-ordinator Lorey Bentley said the school community raised $17,007 towards the challenge.

“It has been amazing to see the commitment and enthusiasm shown by the children and teachers,” she said.

“I have had emails form parents who remember being a part of the Jump Rope for Heart campaign when they were in primary school, and they love the fact that their children are also able to participate.”

The Heart Foundation’s skipping program has helped primary school students move more and have fun, while they raise funds for heart research, patient support and programs which help save lives.

Kingsville Primary School pupils learnt a number of skipping tricks, such as double unders, the pretzel, double dutch skipping, criss-cross, the skier and cartwheel skipping over a five-week period as part of the challenge.
