As we emerge from COVID isolation, it’s important we get local business booming again.

Council understands it has a role to play in this and has been working with small business and local traders to stimulate trading opportunities.

This includes the outdoor dining program which our community has embraced, wanting us to not only keep the pandemic parklets but to install more. Check out our draft Policy designed to support this at YourCityYourVoice.com.au/parklets

These outdoor dining extensions have not only delivered an economic stimulus to our commercial precincts, they’ve also facilitated connections fundamental to our mental health and wellbeing.

Council is also working with Traders Associations to support events and functions like, Sunshine Daydream in Yarraville, East Meets West in Footscray and the Colours Festival in West Footscray that draw visitors to these areas to enjoy social activities, that at the same time have a positive impact on the local economy.

I encourage you to the opportunity to enjoy these events while also supporting our local businesses.
